About Susanne O'Brien
I'm not a good speller. Nor am I good at math. Everyone has their calling and traditional school academics was not mine. I remember the exact moment that I discovered what made my heart happy and how it felt. I was in third grade and my art teacher assigned us the task of creating a pointillist painting. When the class came to an end I was miserable. I didn't want to leave my project unfinished! I could have sat there for hours dipping my brush in the watery paint, watching the pink and lavender dabs slowly form a hydrangea.
I knew then and there that art was my passion.
My creative path has meandered in many directions over the years. First fine art, then visual merchandising, then window display (what a blast I had in that field!), then creating children's furniture and running my own store in New York City with my two best friends. All-in-all I've been a very lucky girl! Each path I have taken has been wonderful in its own way and has informed the person that I am today creatively.
Now, when I make jewelry, I still feel the exact same joy that I did when I was a little girl dabbing my brush. Each trinket has its own journey. Whether it starts as a junk store find or someone's personal treasure, it will be completely refashioned into ornamental glory. Every small bauble calls for unique treatment. Every one has its own personality and is one-of-a-kind, as are the people they will adorn.
I love my job and hope I can share my joy with you.
Kindest regards,
